Steering Committee Meeting (9th for Component 1, 1st for Component 2)

The EU ASSP II Zambia Project team and the stakeholders forming the Steering Committee met on the 13th of October 2021. The meeting had to take place virtually via web conference.

 

It is the first time that the 2 components of the EU funded project Aviation Support Sector Programme II for ZAMBIA had a steering committee meeting together.

The project implemented by EASA is the first component of a bigger EU Action on Civil Aviation in Zambia; the second component was delayed and finally started in February this year. The focus of this meeting was mainly on the workplan of component 2, that was presented for the first time to the steering committee for approval. 

The first component that started in 2018 will reach the end of implementation next year in October and was praised for the tangible improvements and results delivered until now. 

The participation to the meeting has been high with representatives from all aviation sectors in Zambia and for the first time after the recent elections in Zambia, the newly appointed Permanent Secretary (acting) of the Ministry of Logistics and Transport, Mr Stephen Mbewe officially opened the meeting and expressed his high interest in the project outcomes.

The EU Delegation to Zambia and COMESA was represented by Mr Claudio Bacigalupi and the National Authorising Officer for the 13th EDF was Mr Akex Chikwese; the Director general of the Zambian CAA, Mr Gabriel Lesa, and the
